Around Hong Kong

Hotel Jen is Hong Kong Island’s preferred base from which to explore the many fascinating sights and sounds of the surrounding area.

The Peak

Once the preserve of Hong Kong's colonial elite, Victoria Peak, or just The Peak as it is more commonly known these days, is a must-see for any visitor. To escape the crowds, take the 45-minute circular walk, away from the shops and other attractions of the Peak Tower, around Harlech and Lugard Roads. Along the way, you will find sweeping views of the Harbour, and across to the hills of Kowloon. Hong Kong's oldest form of public transport, The Peak Tram runs for 1.37 kilometres up the steep hillside between Central and The Peak.

Stanley Market

A favourite with both locals and tourists in search of a bargain and some sea air, Stanley Market is located in a former British Army garrison town. These days the place is as popular for its waterfront restaurants as for its shops, which sell a wide range of goods including fashionable (and not-so-fashionable) clothing, traditional Chinese crafts, sports shoes and paintings. Several bus routes run between Stanley and Central bus station, which is just a few minutes' ride by shuttle bus from Hotel Jen.

Lan Kwai Fong and Soho

A short cab ride from the Hotel, two of the city's most popular - and conveniently neighbouring - entertainment and nightlife districts are Lan Kwai Fong, and the more recently established Soho. Lan Kwai Fong is the more expensive of the two areas, with most of the clubs and bars, while Soho is better known for its good selection of international restaurants. Think about starting here for dinner, then working your way down to Lan Kwai Fong on foot for a more dynamic scene.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Opened in 2005, Hong Kong Disneyland is slightly smaller than its counterparts worldwide and can be visited in half a day, which may be a selling point for busy travellers with kids. Themed areas include Adventureland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street USA, and there are many outlets serving a great variety of local and western cuisines. A fireworks show takes place every evening at 7pm. Hong Kong Disneyland can be reached by train from Central Station, a few minutes' drive from Hotel Jen.

Ocean Park

Ocean Park on the south side of Hong Kong Island has been attracting local and overseas visitors for more than three decades with a crowd-pleasing combination of amusement-park rides, aquarium exhibits, pandas, and dolphin and sea lion shows. Since the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park has really stepped up to the plate with a major makeover incorporating many new rides and attractions, and new restaurants.
