One of Hong Kong's oldest areas, where the modern history of the island started. Belcher's Street behind the hotel was named after Edward Belcher, a British Navy officer who surveyed the harbour of Hong Kong in 1841, the year that Hong Kong Island was first occupied by the British.
As this area is not as developed as the Central business district nearby, you will see many traditional shops and have a chance to experience the local way of life in Hong Kong. The dozens of Hong Kong Hotels in the Western District also make this area popular with tourists.
Hop onto a tram just a minute's walk from the hotel and enjoy a nostalgic ride witnessing Hong Kong's past, present and future. The tram dates back to 1904, running between the western and eastern coast of Hong Kong Island from Kennedy Town in the western end, to Shaukeiwan in the eastern end of Hong Kong Island.
